📖 1. Micro-organisms

🔑 Key Concepts & Definitions

• Micro-organisms: Microscopic organisms commonly called microbes; they are living entities visible only under a microscope.
• Microbes: Defined as microscopic living entities, these include bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa, which are too small to be seen with the naked eye.
• Pathogen: An organism that causes disease (see section 2).
• Contamination: The entry of micro-organisms into the internal environment of a living being, potentially leading to infection (see section 3).
• Infection: The multiplication of micro-organisms within a living organism, which can result in disease.
